Pair of French 0.950 (higher purity than sterling) silver 4-light candelabra, from the early 20th century and in Louis XVI style, adorned with acanthus leaves and other natural motifs. They are documented to have come from the estate of the Rothschild family. They measure 18 1/4'' in height by 12 1/2'' from arm to arm, weigh an impressive 244 troy ounces, and bear hallmarks as shown.

The Boin-Taburet metalwork firm was established in 1873 by George Boin and Emile Taburet, and is accredited with the revival of Louis XV and Louis XVI 18th-century styles in 1880s Paris. Boin-Taburet produced wares of extremely fine quality, all of which exhibit a superb attention to detail. Due to this technical expertise, the Boin-Taburet firm won a major award at the 1889 Exposition Universelle (World’s Fair) in Paris. The company became especially famous for producing a number of surtout de tables (centerpieces), most of which were crafted to resemble garden lakes or ponds with ornamental sculptures, fountains and urns.
