Lester Vaughan sterling silver footed bowl, beautifully hand hammered in Boston Arts & Crafts style. It measures 8'' in diameter by 3'' in height, weighs 13.5 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown.
Silversmith Lester Howard Vaughan was active in Taunton, MA. His well-known work contributed to the popularity of colonial-style pewter forms during the early decades of the twentieth century and may have provided some models for the Val-Kill Forge. One of his pieces is in the permanent collection of the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historical Site, which is part of the National Park Service Museum Collections.
