Garrido Sterling Silver Centerpiece Bowl in Mid-Century Modern Style
Damian Garrido sterling silver centerpiece bowl in Mid-Century Modern style, with an elegant, geometric design. It measures 15'' by 12'' by 9'' and weighs 105 troy ounces. From childhood he stood out in drawing and modeling, Damian Garrido (1931-2002) began attending lessons with various sculptors and master silversmiths. At just 17 he was examined and passed as a 3rd-Class Journeyman (Oficial de 3ª) and, showing a clear vocation for silverwork, he went through the finest silversmithing workshops in Madrid. He completed his training at the School of Arts and Crafts of Madrid, and at 19 he was named a 1st-Class Journeyman (Oficial de 1ª), something exceptional given the complexity of this artistic trade. He is the recipient of several awards, including the award for Best Traditional Madrid Craftsman, granted in 1981 by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Master Craftsman Diploma, presented by the Madrid Craftsmen’s Guild in 1989.
